The Tohono O’odham Nation and EDA signed and executed on June 14, 2006 an Agreement for Transfer of Assets and Assumption of Liabilities and a Business Lease for 25 years with an option to renew in regards to an existing retail center in Sells, Arizona.  The Legislative Council approved through Resolution # 06-353 for the transfer and management to EDA.  The Sells Shopping Center is approximately 26,000 sq. ft. of retail space built in the mid 1980’s.  Our concept plan for this retail center entails a full renovation and expansion to include adding approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of new retail space, building a small park with public restrooms, developing vendor booths and section for vendors to use daily and enhancing the overall retail center with new parking lots, landscaping and facade.  The renovation and expansion of the Sells Shopping Center will take place in four (4) phases:  • Phase I – Full Structural and Infrastructure Assessment. • Phase II – Development of Blueprint, Design, Renderings and Specifications by an Architect. • Phase III – Renovation, Expansion and Construction by a General Contractor. • Phase IV – Grand Re-Opening.
         The total estimated time from start to finish is approximately 18 months.  For more information, please contact the EDA business office.  The Sells Shopping Center is great project because there is insufficient retail and office space to establish and grow an existing business. 

In addition, more products and services will be available for the community instead of having to drive an hour or more just to buy certain good and services.
